Lana is 4

Lana, how on earth did we get to FOUR already?! You are so ready to be in kindergarten, that I wouldn't mind for time to slow down just a little bit. We only have one more school year together every day all day. You bring so much excitement and energy to our family. You're always up for adventure and we love being along for the ride.

When I think of you, my first thought is that you want to be a part of whatever is going on. Being left out, or feeling like you've been, is your least favorite thing. When you wake up in the morning if other kids are awake before you, you are mad that "they woke up before me". "That's not fair" is a common phrase. But you love your people well and just want to be part of whatever is going on. This summer you are excited to be able to play t-ball and do swimming lessons just like the big kids.

Your imaginative play is amazing. You can play house with just about anything. And if someONE is available to play, all the better. You often have "ballet practice" but not every day. Some days you don't have to go.

You are no pushover- you often are told to stop yelling at your siblings. You seem to have a very specific idea of what is to go on and want everyone to comply. You can imagine, that doesn't always work so well.

You are hilarious. You make us laugh and smile all the time and we love to smile and laugh with you. You like to make up words and make silly faces. You also like to color and create things- the more stickers, glue, paint, markers, the better. More is ALWAYS better. :)

Lana still takes a nap most days, because she likes to. She loves her elephant blanket and in particular, the corners of the blanket. She isn't required to sleep during rest time, but she usually chooses to. That means that at night time, she has a longer time until she falls asleep. She usually comes into our room and tells us she's scared, but her face is smiling and she puts her hands on her face in the most adorable way. She really just wants to hang out. :)

Lana is a good big AND little sister. Like I said before, she is not a push over with the big kids. But her favorite part of the day is when they get off the bus and she sees them walking down the driveway. She likes to "mom" Knox and Greta and care for them. She's been known to put Greta's paci in her mouth and rock her until she falls back asleep. She's a great helper.

Lana Mae, we love you so much! We love being both active participants and observers in your life. We can't wait to see what God has for you and pray you grow in your wisdom and love for Him! He loves you so much!

Greta- 2 months

Oh Greta-girl! You're 2 months old (last week). We are all so smitten with you and love to receive your precious smiles that you now give us! It is so fun to watch your siblings hold you- the biggest three have gotten so good at handling you.

Your hair is still a hot-topic conversation. After it is washed it is so fluffy and blonde and as the days go on, it becomes more "manageable" because everyone likes to pet you. :) You are sleeping well. Our most common sleep pattern at night is a 5-5:30 wake up for mom, after you ate around 8-9 pm. I am so pleased when you do that. You also tend to take a good afternoon nap of around 3-4 hours. Currently, there is about an hour of quiet at the house before your big siblings get home from school.

You seem to be expressive as I've seen an eyebrow raise that looks very skeptical and hilarious to me. You also have the saddest chin-quiver when you're upset. The shots you got at your well visit had you crying a lot and it reminded me of Haddie. We'll see if you end up having a similar personality to your biggest sis.

Micah is 8

Our Micah Scott is 8! Here we are at the end of the school year, and I see so much growth in him in the last few months. He is growing in maturity, friendship, kindness, awareness, and admitting when he's wrong. We thank God for the work He's doing in Micah's life and Micah responding to it.

Micah is very creative and is always working on something. He loves to create art pieces and since he's become a great reader, he has added word bubbles to much of his art. He likes taking pictures with my phone and then editing them. They often make us laugh. He also likes to know how things work and is creative in finding solutions to fixing things- bike chains and training wheels seem to be his favorite things to tinker with right now. He still likes drawing, painting, coloring, and building his own Lego masterpieces.

I think sports have made their way up on Micah's "likes" list. He played baseball last summer, soccer last fall, and basketball this winter. Since basketball season, his shot has improved a lot as he's gotten stronger and more confident. We're gearing up for baseball season and tennis camp this summer. He also loves to play basement football with Eli and Dad, as well as "crashketball" in the trampoline. For his birthday, we went to the Buhler High football field and played football. He loves the Dallas Cowboys and likes to talk about players both current and past- I've heard the name Bob Hayes many many many times.

Probably one of Micah's most obvious qualities is he's curious. He likes to know "how" and "why" to everything. I don't always have answers to all of questions, but he certainly keeps at them.

Micah's grandpa Wichert passed away unexpectedly shortly before his birthday. Micah has been good at remembering some funny stories with Grandpa and we've all smiled remembering our good times with him. He misses Grandpa a lot.

In the fall Micah got the character award of "initiative" at school. And I really see this as an area of growth for him this year. He often asks if/how he can help or just does things without being asked. He really is just growing up and it's a joy to watch and be a part of it. He is a really good brother and if he gets candy at school he often splits it up between his siblings. He loves to hold Greta and is the most comfortable with comforting her when she's upset. We sure love our Micah!

Knox is 2

Oh Knoxie, how are you 2?! To think you were born into a global pandemic and that was two years ago is just mind boggling. You are SO MUCH FUN! (You're also so much work but we won't put that on here, right? ;) Your siblings think you are the funniest kid on the planet and are constantly laughing at your antics.

Just recently you started loving Mickey Mouse you like saying "hot dog" and "oh toodles". My favorite things you say are "oh no" and "oh my"- they're just the cutest. You certainly aren't talking as much as your sisters did at this age, but why would you need to? Everyone else talks for you and makes sure you have everything you could possibly want.

You sleep with your fox and suck your thumb. You love having Mickey and Minnie stuffies in your bed too. You go to bed around 8 and sleep until 8 and take a nice afternoon nap. Mom is grateful you like to sleep.

You also like to eat- you'd love if mom had a kitchen that was "open" all the time. When breakfast is over, you're ready for a snack. You love to eat.

You really are all boy- love to play outside and find mud, chalk, bubbles, dirt, and rocks. You are happiest outside and just recently learned to open our outside doors, so now we have to deadbolt them. Basically, you find a way to get what you want.

When you're mad you hit your head on the floor and if you're sitting, you hit it on whatever is closest to you. You know it's a ticket to spend some time in your bed without fox, but you still like to show mom and dad that you are not pleased.

We really just love YOU, Knox. You bring a lot of energy and spice to our family. You do everything you do with all your heart. We know God made you this way and we pray as your grow older, you will live your life for Him with all your heart. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
